The Pure Form certification course details the biomechanics behind every exercise, providing you with the knowledge base to easily modify exercises to suit individual strengths, skills or injuries.

Each exercise is thoroughly broken down throughout the course so that you as the participant learn via observation, practice within ones body, seeing and feeling modifications, hearing and learning verbal cues as well as practicing the use of tactile cues and manual adjustments.

Muscle Recruitment is covered for every exercise – always relating this new knowledge back to functional applications.Breath is explained in detail for each exercise, as is how to use tempo and rhythm to add variety.

The curriculum clearly outlines traditional formats and how to safely make modifications both for progression and regression.The outcome being that following the course Pure Form instructors are competent at running classes for people new to Pilates right through to advanced participants.

Postural Analysis is covered to enable you to better tailor sessions to individuals as well as appropriate modifications to give for each postural type for different exercises where needed – allowing you to teach more broadly to groups whilst remaining specific to individuals.

Pure Form focuses on developing the cueing skills of instructor so that they can pass on their wealth of knowledge to all walks of life clearly and concisely. In addition to mastering verbal cueing of Pilates, Pure Form instructors also learn to use tactile and imagery to enhance participant’s experience.

Having completed the Pure Form Training Curriculum, Instructors are competent in:

  • Explaining to clients the fundaments of Pilates – including alignment and core stability principles.
  • The Pilates Method of Exercise – exercise mechanics, breath and essence.
  • Classic Pilates exercises plus all progressions and regressions
  • Exercise prescription based on common ailments and posture
  • Formation and grouping of exercises
  • Verbal and tactile cuing
  • Use of imagery to enhance not detract from exercises
DESCRIPTION

Our programs provide a balanced and thorough blend of theory, observation and practical experience to help you master the repertoire.

General Course Objectives:

  • How to apply Pure Form principles of core stability, breathing and alignment to all exercises
  • A complete breakdown of each exercise
  • Exercise goals, muscular initiation and movement sequencing
  • Modifications to increase or decrease exercise intensity
  • Modifications for specific body types and postural issues
  • How to recognize optimal and less than optimal movement patterns
  • A variety of programming options to keep clients motivated
  • Effective communication, verbal cues and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation
DURATION

Contact Hours: 24 Hours (3 Days)  Non Contact Hours: 20 hours consisting of 10 hours observation and 10 hours practical.

ADMISSION

Many of our Pure Form graduates have chosen to become a Pilates Instructor to enhance their passion for fitness, embark on a new career or supplement their current income. We strongly recommend that before commencing your Pure Form course that your personal Pilates practice and your foundational knowledge of the work are both solid. Knowing Pilates in your own body will not only give you an appreciation of the method, it will also help you teach it to your clients. Participate in a few Pilates classes at PURE or your local studio and watch a few  PURE Pilates DVDs before course commences.

As a guide we recommend:

  • Minimum participation of 10 Pilates classes prior to course commencement

COURSE FEES

ASSESSMENT

On-Course Theory Exam: The written exam consists of multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank or matching type questions, and muscle identification questions. It will take you approximately 2-3 hours to complete the exam.

Your results for your theory exam will be emailed to you within 10 days of completing your course.

Practical Exam: You will be required to demonstrate an exercise to your course group at the end of day 3

Once your observation and practical logs are complete please email a copy  to [email protected] or drop them into Pure Coorparoo. Your Pilates Certificate will be issued within a 2 week period.

POLICIES & PROCEDURES

Absenteeism & Make-up Hours

It is strongly advised that make-up hours are done as soon as possible after they are missed – especially if it occurs in the middle of a course. This allows students to cover the missed material prior to returning to the course. Please note that this is done in private review at the student’s expense. Students have six months to make up any hours missed. If they exceed this timeline, the course is forfeited and the entire course must be retaken in order to examine and certify.

Date of Certification

Upon successful completion of the exam, students are considered certified instructors from their exam date.

Observation Hours

Observation hours can be logged during or after the course and can be accrued by watching a PURE Health Clubs Certified Instructor teach at any of our locations. All Pilates Studios qualify, we just recommend that 80% of observation hours be completed by watching a Certified Instructor teach.

Eligibility

Students must be at least 18 years of age to participate in a Pure Form course, workshop or examination.

Certification Appeals Process

Students who choose to appeal their certification score may do so in writing to [email protected] 30 days of their exam scores being issued. All appeals will be attended to within 60 days of receipt.

YOUR CAREER

Upon completion of Reformer Level 1, students who pass the course will be eligible to interview for instructor positions at Pure Studios. The road to starting your Pilates career starts with us. Our aim is to provide all of our trainees with the resources to become highly skilled, successful Pilates instructors before, during and after training with us. Reformer Level One Course

Fundamentals of Pilates learnt in depth

Postural analysis covered.

 Great base of exercises offered.

Formatting and class structure covered.

Able to conduct beginner to intermediate classes with exercises learned.

Reformer Level Two/Three Course

Builds on from Level One with greater variety:

Exercises involving greater body integration, strength (especially upper) and flexibility.

Great to build intermediate to advanced routines.

Fantastic for Power Pilates and advanced routines.

 Exercises require greater control, flexibility, integration and strength.

STUDY. LEARN. TEACH.

Be mentored with leading Pilates teachers at our amazing studios. Students will learn from these instructors, refine their own practice and acquire the confidence and skills to teach  in their own unique style. Program graduates will be eligible to interview for a teaching position within Pure’s studios, pending availability and need.
